Pass Plus Course

Pass Plus is a practical training course that takes at least 6 hours and is for drivers to improve their skills and drive more safely.  Automatic Pass, Pass Plus course will give you a positive driving style which is both enjoyable and safe, helping you gain quality driving experience.  It will also help in areas where you may have had little or no driving experience and also help to reduce the risk of you being involved in an accident. 

A course can be taken at any time although it should be most useful to new drivers in the year after passing their test and It may help you get a car insurance discount if you successfully complete the course. 

Pass plus courses booked through our web-site, will cost £150.00.  Make a booking.

You will need a Pass Plus registered approved driving instructor (ADI) to teach you. 

Useful books and DVD's include: The Highway Code, Driving the Essential Skills, Know your Traffic Signs, "drive" video, etc. 

Module 1 Introduction
Your instructor will introduce the course and outline the disciplines and benefits of the course. 

Module 2 Town Driving
Town Driving
This is a practical session concentrating on observation, judgement and awareness eye contact, being cautious, but not unnecessarily hesitant, keeping space around the car, multi-lane junctions and unusual roundabouts, over - and underpasses, bus and cycle lanes.

Module 3 All Weather Driving
All Weather Driving
This may be a theory session.  The aim will be to discuss safe driving in extreme weather and road conditions. 
Topics will include: seeing and being seen, using appropriate lights, safe speed and distances, anticipation, causes and how to correct skids.

Module 4 Rural and Out - of Town Driving
Country Roads
This will be a practical session featuring driving on all types of rural roads endeavoring to include:- bends, hills and uneven road surfaces, safe overtaking.  Observation and making progress safely, with emphasis on: Farm entrances, animals and slow moving vehicles, mud on road, sharp bends, use of horn/lights.

Module 5 Night Driving
Night Driving
This will take place after lighting - up time.  It will cover: the correct use of lights, seeing and being seen familiarisation of reflective signs, markings, etc.  judging speed and distance of self and others, adjusting to dusk and dawn (theory) being prepared for pedestrians and cyclists.

Module 6 Dual Carriageway and Motorway Driving
Dual Carriageway
Topics include:- effective observation and use of mirrors/blind spots, joining and leaving carriageways judgement and planning safe distances, overtaking and safe speeds in different circumstances, signs, signals and road markings.

N.B.  These modules may not necessarily be taken in the above order, and some may overlap, depending on the previous experience of the candidate.
