The benefits

People who have passed their advanced driving test have been found to have a substantially reduced accident rate.  In addition, research suggests that advanced drivers possessed a wide range of increased driving skills, including speed, safe distances, gear changing and cornering.  Many people also report that advanced training has enhanced their enjoyment of driving too.

Plus, while it's raising your driving standard it could also be minimising the cost of your annual driving costs, including insurance, fuel and maintenance costs.

Advanced training

We recommend an assessment lesson to assess your current driving skills, this lesson will form the basis of your Advanced Driving course.

Your instructor will give you feedback based on your assessment, followed by a demonstration drive by your instructor complete with an instructional commentary and debrief at the end.  Your instructor will then become your own personal trainer and coach giving tips, information and advice, helping to improve your driving skills.

Further lessons would normally be booked in advance for 2 hour sessions.  The price of both assessment and further lessons is *£30 per hour, correct as at 01/11/14.  Candidates may use their own vehicle as long as it is legally roadworthy and suitable for training purposes.

Trainers and reading materials

Our advanced driving instructors are all fully trained having completed the advanced driving tests* themselves, some are police trained and many hold the Diploma in Advanced Driving Instruction.  *(These may include; IAM, RoSPA or Cardington)

The Highway Code and a publication called Roadcraft, the essential police driver's handbook, are the preferred reading materials.  These books should be read in conjunction with other notes provided by your instructor during your driving course.
